Madeleine Kotze is the new Secretary General (SG) of Athletics Namibia (AN). Her appointment follows the Congress of AN on the 25 November 2017, which relieved Mr Immanuel Hamutenya as the SG. In addition Mr Louis Cloete from Omaheke region has also been co-opted to the Council of Athletics Namibia as the Chairperson of the Coaching Committee. AN welcomes the two officials and wishes them all the best in their new portfolios.

Team Namibia arrived in London on Tuesday. The team is housed at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel and with four days to go, the team is all focused on the awaiting job on Sunday.
Helalia Johannes, Beata Naigambo, Lavinia Haitobe, Reonard Nampala and Paulus Iyambo leave today for the IAAF World Championships, which will take place in London from the 4th August 2017. The five athletes will take part in the marathon on the 6th August 2017.
Ryan Williams set a new Namibian national record in the Discus for men at CAA-SR Senior Championships that took place in Harare from the 09 -10 June 2017. Ryan achieved a distance of 45.95m and improved on Hansie Booysen record of 45.74 that was set in 1991. The men’s 4x400m as well as the women’s 4x100m also set new Namibian records at the Championships. The Namibian team of 23 athletes, generally
Namibian athletes will be up against their regional counterparts from Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe at the CAA Southern Region Track & Field Championships. The Championships takes place at the National Stadium in Harare, from the 10 – 11 June 2017.
