Athletics Namibia regrets to inform that the 2018 version of the Dr Sam Nuyoma National Half Marathon has been cancelled. Unfortunately, the organising committee on the event was not able to meet all the requisite requirements for the event to be hosted successfully. Athletics Namibia is working hard to make sure that the popular event among our national athletes will return in 2019.

Athletics Namibia hosted the 2018 National Track & Field Championships from the 20 to 21 April 2018 in Windhoek. The event was action packed with various duels among athletes. The 400m men saw Ernst Narib pushed to the end by youngster Evan Dani Geldenhys (2nd) and Mahmad Bock (third) and delivered quality times of 46.55secs, 46.77secs and 47.19 secs, respectively. Helalia Johannes became the first Namibian women to win a Commonwealth Gold Medal in athletics – marathon when she emerged victor in the women marathon on the 15th April 2018 in Gold Coach, Australia. She won in a time of 2:32:40. Athletics Namibia congratulates her and the team to the Commonwealth Games.

The Namibian National Track & Field Championships will take place on the 20 and 21 April at the Independence Stadium, Olympia,  Windhoek. Athletes from all the regions of Namibia will contest to be crowned national champions in the various events in track and field. The top 8 athletes at the local events are invited by AN, while each region may select additional athletes to the nationals. To view the list
